PHOTOGRAPHS ARE WORTH KEEPING

«Patrik, we would love another shoot — when suits you?»

«With pleasure — what a joy to see you two again!»

This family first stood in front of my camera in 2001. Last winter they came back — and brought the old family picture with them. I could not resist digging out the same background and recreating the shot exactly. Then we did a session against newer backgrounds. Photographs are worth keeping.

Booking & process
How far ahead do I need to book?
Short notice is often fine. Popular summer Saturdays for weddings go early, naturally — but checking a date costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
How does an enquiry work?
Tell me briefly what it is about — for an event, the date, the place and roughly how the day runs. By form, email, phone or WhatsApp. You get a clear recommendation and an open price, quickly.
Do you ask for a deposit?
It depends on the size of the job. For larger ones — weddings, company films — a deposit holds the date firmly, the rest follows on delivery. Smaller studio sessions are paid after the shoot, by Twint or cash.
What does travel cost?
In the Basel region and the Laufental, travel is included. Further afield I charge fairly for the actual journey, and it is set out in the quotation beforehand. The calculators show travel as you go: Shooting calculator › · Wedding calculator ›
What languages do you work in?
German, English and French. Shoots run comfortably in all three.
Can I move an appointment?
Yes — just tell me early. Illness or bad luck with the weather, we find another date. Appointments missed without word are charged in part or in full.
Do you sell gift vouchers?
Yes. I am grateful if they get used before too long.
Weddings & private celebrations
What does a wedding photographer cost?
Open packages from CHF 565 (civil ceremony) to CHF 3,355 (ten hours) — all-in prices including the licence for private use, including VAT, nothing hidden. Details on the wedding page. Straight to the wedding calculator ›
How soon do we get our wedding pictures?
In 10 to 14 working days, fully colour-corrected, not retouched. If it is urgent, faster where I can.
How many pictures do we get?
It depends on the hours booked, but it is always a lot. You get every picture that worked. I do not hold any back to sell them later.
What happens if the weather is bad?
No drama: the studio, a good indoor location, or somewhere covered outside. We agree the fallback while planning, not on the day.
Do you work alone or with a second photographer?
Alone, deliberately. One photographer who stays close without being noticed gets the real moments. That is the reportage approach.
Do you photograph birthdays, anniversaries and christenings?
Yes — the wedding packages apply to private celebrations in the same way. Same work, same open all-in prices. To the celebration calculator ›
We are awkward in front of a camera — is that a problem?
It is my job that you look good. Part of that is photographing with you rather than at you — you are a person, not an object. I talk while I work, and that is where the mood comes from. When people are comfortable, the pictures are good. And then I am comfortable too.
Photo shoots, profile & application photos
How long does a session take?
Application photos: around 30 minutes. Starportrait, couple and family sessions: normally 45 to 90 minutes — though we have gone far longer, depending on what you want covered.
Can I change outfits and bring someone along?
Please do — it shows more sides of a person. Different clothes help, so does a different background and different light: each set has its own mood, a small shoot inside the shoot. And bringing a friend can take the edge off. They usually end up assisting.
Can I book a make-up artist for the session?
Yes, that can be arranged. She is paid directly after her work, by Twint or cash.
When do I get my pictures?
Application photos in one to two working days, sessions usually in five. If there is a deadline, faster where I can — just say so.
Do you photograph children and animals?
Yes, at any age — from a baby to a horse. With children a parent is always present, and nothing is published without written consent. One thing you will not get from me: angel wings and the like. Sorry.
What should I wear?
Clothes you feel good in — and bring more than you think you need. Rule of thumb: a quarter of an hour per set and outfit. So for a 45-minute session, bring at least three.
Are the pictures retouched?
Application and team photos normally are. Session pictures: light retouching on request at no charge, heavier work on request for a fee.
Can I use the application photos on LinkedIn?
Yes — you get the pictures digitally and retouched, free to use for applications and your professional profiles. Wider use, advertising or an election campaign for instance, would need a separate agreement.
What exactly is «Starportrait»?
The idea behind Starportrait is to show people from more than one side: to be properly yourself for once — or somebody else entirely. To get the hobby, the thing you care about, into a picture. Starportrait is not a beauty contest, it is an afternoon out, and that is exactly why the pictures come out well. People have told me a thousand times: you are hunting good photographs together. It is a lot of fun, and it shows.
Can I share a session with a friend?
Yes. Two hours, for example, with an hour each in turn. No surcharge. Only if the files have to be separated and delivered to different addresses is there a small extra charge.
Business: commercial photography & film
What does a company assignment cost?
By quotation — hourly, half-day or day rate, depending on the scope. Describe the project and you normally have the quotation within 24 hours. For more complex requests involving third parties, as soon as I can. Company reportage & events: to the calculator ›
How does a film project work?
All from one person: idea and concept, filming, editing, music and the right formats for the website, LinkedIn, Instagram or a trade fair — no agency in between.
Do you photograph teams at our premises?
Yes — at your premises or in the studio. One consistent look for the website, print and LinkedIn, organised efficiently even for larger teams.
Can we use the pictures anywhere?
Use is set out in the quotation — usually a licence for your own company communication (website, social media, print). Wider use, a poster campaign for example, we agree on fairly.
Our place is not photogenic — is it still worth it?
That is exactly when it is. Workshops, laboratories, building sites: that is where the honest, strong pictures come from, the ones that do not look like stock photography.
Do you build websites too?
I am a photographer and a filmmaker, and that is the eye I bring to your website. First I look at it: where visitors drop out, what an applicant sees, what has aged. Out of that comes a concrete proposal — a refresh, not a rebuild. Then it is done selectively: existing pages brought up to date, processes made simpler, individual areas rebuilt. Photography, film and web from one person. Ask for a website check ›
Our website is ten years old — do we need a rebuild?
Usually not. The substance is often sound — it is the design and the technology that have stood still, and the way a company presents itself today, an employer included, is not what it was. A refresh brings the site into this decade. What does that look like? You are looking at it: I refreshed this website myself.
Pictures, rights & data protection
Do I get the unedited RAW files?
As a rule no — the finished picture is the product. Where there is a good reason, we can talk about it.
Can I post my pictures on social media — and can you publish mine?
Post yours: please do, and a credit is always welcome. The other way round, I only publish your pictures with your explicit written consent. On commercial work that is published anyway, I may show the results in my portfolio.
How long do you keep the pictures?
Several years — reorders are possible long afterwards. Recently a family recreated their own portrait from 2001, 24 years on, down to the background.
Who owns the pictures?
Copyright stays with the photographer — that is how the law works. You get a clear licence for your use: comprehensive for private use, as set out in the quotation for business use.
Practical
Where is the studio, and is there parking?
Araweg 6, 4222 Zwingen (In den Weiden industrial estate) — 150 m², modern. Parking right outside.
What is the fastest way to reach you?
WhatsApp or a call: 079 964 63 65 / 061 761 21 61 — or the form. I come back quickly.
Do you work outside Switzerland?
I do not advertise it. But if a good request comes along, we can look at it together.
